2K Games has appointed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to direct the development team at their internal studio, which is currently developing the forthcoming third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Leadership Shift Follows Poor Response
The new appointee takes on the leadership position at 31st Union following the exit of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to the game's underwhelming unveiling last autumn.
Recently, the company's top executive David Ismailer notified staff about this strategic move through an internal memo, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had revealed the requirement for a clearer game identity.
The president stated that the developers is now overhauling Project Ethos with a renewed vision, aiming to better meet gamer demands.
A Pattern of Key Acquisitions
The news follows a comparable move taken by the publisher in the summer, when they brought on Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to assist with the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.
Below is the full content from Ismailer's memo:
Hello Everyone—
I understand you all just finished your meeting - I trust you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the positive developments. Previously I sent you all a update, I expressed the following: “I believe in this group. You all are some of the most motivated and innovative developers we have had the chance to work with - and we’re excited for that collaboration to persist.”
Given your hard work and adaptability, particularly over the last year, you continue to prove that.
The player input from last fall’s Project ETHOS playtest was enlightening. It affirmed the appeal of a action-packed game but indicated we still had refinements needed. It uncovered the necessity for a sharper brand.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve advanced. You took the criticism to mind and reimagined the title with a renewed goal - one that’s ready to fulfill its potential to our fans.
Our confidence in Project ETHOS increases every day. To further the outstanding advancement you’ve made, I’m excited to announce the new hire as the new Studio Head of 31st Union. After several months of discussions, Ben comes aboard us on Monday, October 20.
His leadership and expertise in the competitive gaming field is extensive, having devoted the recent years producing and leading some of the most popular series in gaming, for example Call of Duty: Black Ops, and most recently, the battle royale hit.
Let’s together in greeting Ben in the coming days. We are all excited to keep witnessing the evolution of the game in the time to follow.
The President

He previously worked at major gaming companies in diverse development positions on the iconic franchise series, and, before that, had assignments at other industry leaders.
Title Details and Concept
Project Ethos was revealed in October 2024 alongside a public demo. Then, the developers presented the title as a "no-cost, 3rd-person action-packed experience and an innovative advancement on the genre."
"Create your ideal gameplay session—or face defeat—in this engaging over-the-shoulder adventure! Customize your character in live gameplay to suit your personal playstyle," the game's pitch explains. "Take on the competition with unique powers, stakes, and challenges that evolve every match. Will you leave securely with your hard-earned loot? Or take a risk, put it on the line, and pray your group can secure victory? The option is up to you."
The game has not yet received an official debut schedule or consoles, but fans can look forward to more updates as production progresses.
